The Winter Palace
This study prolongs the idea in “The Book of Space” of visually joining spaces, but it's represented through physical objects rather than silhouettes. The images created by the instrument references to the same two spaces represented in the book. When the motors are turned on, the instrument becomes a changing structure where the two rooms from the film appear as both connected, combined and separate spaces. Abstract elements are designed to appear specific and recognisable when turning with great speed or rising using an inbuilt elastic mechanism; creating images of pillars, tables, staircases, windows and corridors.
